Momentous moment!
Yes, today was the first time 4 of us got to go bike riding together: me, Anika, Freya and SELENA! Chris sadly had to walk along with the dog beside us and was backup in case Selena had some stacks, tried to get onto the road or didn't want to keep riding etc..but she was great and this signified a big day for us - no more "someone will have to stay home with Selena while the others go for a ride". She kept up and was racing her big sisters (well, you know, trying). Yippee!! Can't wait til we go again!

Selena's Wheels
Well, Selena is certainly making tracks around Ingolstadt with her new set of wheels. Alright, making tracks very close to home, but it's a start. What I love is the commentary which goes along with the riding,"I don't need any help on my bike now, don't I mum? Oops, watch out Monty. Look how fast I going. I can go super fast (looking at pedals and not rapidly approaching fence)...Oh, I fall'd off again. No don't help me. I can do it all by myself. Ofh, Ofh (pushing pedals) I can't do it muuuum. (Mum helps push start) When I ride to Nan's I gonna show her my new bike...but its not a motorbike, it's just a bike. I can ride in the bike lane because I'm on my bike. Freya's not allowed on here. She's not riding her bike. See, look how fast I can go (looking at pedals and not rapidly approaching post)...Oh..." and so on...

About the house Anika
well the house is grate, the rooms are bigger, its a little smaller but you don't notice it because its 4 stories high! (but about 6 metres wide :() ) The rooms are a bit bigger, we had to get new cupboards for mine and Freya's room because we had built in ones in Australia. I love our new house!!!!

a word from Anika...
Well Germany is great. Especially in winter with snow. When we arrived, mum said it would be like 24 degrees so we only brought a light jumper. But when we walked outside it felt like minus 3. I felt dumb not wearing a jacket like everyone else we saw. Our dog Monty arrived 2 days after. She was licking our faces and jumping all over the place. Soon we started in an English and German school. I have 2 teachers. My English one is Miss Bladen and my German one is Frau Treiber (Mrs Treiber). I made friends with a nice American girl, Taea (Taya). One day when me and mum went for a walk on the fields with Monty we got caught in a snow storm. I felt so cold! Right now we are on a 2 week holiday. I have had heaps of homework! What I miss the most about Australia is mostly my family and friends. Love Anika x
A word from Freya...
I love Germany because I love the snow. Because sometimes the snowflakes can be huge and you can see the actual shape of the snowflake. Sometimes they can be icy and hard and they are the best for making a snowman. Sometimes there can be humungous snowstorms. I am missing a Australia a little bit because I miss the singing birds outside my bedroom window.
A word from Deb...
Well, we've been here 7 weeks already and I thought it might be nice for some of our friends and family to have a look at our time here through the eyes of our 2 big kids, Anika and Freya. We have jointly created this blog and I hope to hand it over to them to post photos and blogs of their own, functioning both as an update for you to view, as well as an archive for our family... I am sure there will be a mixture of posts, and I feel sure we (the Ritzka's) will all learn a lot about blogging along the way! I hope you enjoy our stories, pictures and anecdotes and we would all love to read any comments you care to add! Lots of love, Deb xx
